Thanks swinging by warlock leveling spec. I’ve been grinding it out in WoW now for about 4 years now. I still have fun making new characters, but I get sick of the 1-58 grind that goes hand in hand with Pre-Burning Crusade leveling up. As anyone who has plays a lot of MMO’s usually knows, you can level from quests… but it’s usually never as efficient as grinding unless the game makers specifically build quest-based leveling into the game program. ( like they did with Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm) After playing WoW for several years you can’t help notice that there are always quests with big XP you miss out on for several reasons. They are far to scattered to be worth leveling off of because you can’t keep track of them or know which ones give the best XP. It’s hard to map out a course when you don’t know all the best locations and shortcuts.

So, after doing way to much research, I decided on giving a try to Zygor’s guide. I figured, if nothing else it would give me a structured path I could follow and lead me to the next quest quickly without having to waste time, if I had nothing else to do. As it turns out when I used this guide it added a whole new level of speed to my warlock leveling spec and my other characters also.

Once I gave it a try on a recently made mage character, I was floored. I thought I was fast at leveling. I mean, I’ve done 1-40 about 12 times before. I know Barens like the back of my hand( or at least I did before Cataclysm changed everything). But the level of efficiency this guide brings to my game play enjoyment turns me from an experienced WoW player into a complete leveling machine.

Long gone by are the times when I would get tired of leveling a lowbie and switch back to my Warlock for the “real” fun times. Although, I still do love doing pvp with my Warlock… hehe. The guide allows me to have Burning Crusade and Lich king level pathing so that I can be prepared for the next zone long before I would have ever thought of going there. I don’t need to keep track of all the scattered quests and zones that yield the most experience, Zygor’s guide does all that grunt work for me. It lets me level faster than many of my guild members without question. A few of them actually thought I was doing some major grinding to be leveling up as rapidly as I was. But no, not one sliver of grinding involved. Only questing and goofing off. ( I added the goofing off.  It’s not necessary )

To put it bluntly, grinding was a total pain. Questing with Zygor’s is like a slice of warm apple pie. My only real regret was not grabbing it sooner to use on my older characters. So, how can you make some gold an hour in WoW?

There are a lot common methods to earn gold, and your earnings are totally dependent on applying the correct technique.

A very widely known technique by the top players is called the Auction House or AH or auctioneer method. The principle goes like this: buy items low, sell them high. There are 3 simple steps to follow if you want to succeed using this method:

1. Research the Auction House;
2. Buy a hot item – that has a high demand rate – for a low price;
3. Then you resell the item that you just bought – with a higher price – making you profit.

VARIATION

1. In this variation, you need to observe the Auction House and decide which items are selling like water in a desert. It’s ideal to find items that are highly sought even if the purchaser knows it’s very overpriced, because it means that the item is either super rare or just in ultra high demand and players will pay just about any outrageous price for that item, before someone else gets it and they have to wait for another one to go on sale.

You probably already understand what the other 2 steps are, so now I would like to reveal the secret: There are a handful of players who have developed their own guide and their own gold creating techniques.

If your goal is like my own. You want to enjoy the game on a whole new level, then I suggest to get one of these guides because, not only it will help the way you play the game but it will also improve your game playing experience, all without using cheats or hacks.

Thanks for stopping by warlock leveling spec. the Warlock are great at dealing damage with their shadow and fire spells.  Before I get started on the best warlock leveling spec, I’m gonna get some basic information out of the way for the newbies out there.( If you are a newbie, the term newbie means “to be new at something”. In this case new to WOW or to playing the warlock character in WOW.) Hehe

Warlocks are a caster/ranged class, meaning that most of your damage will generally be done from some distance, while your pet engages the enemy in an effort to keep your enemies away from you.

Some of the benefits of being a Warlock are as follows:

• High damage capability
• The ability to Drain Life from enemies and give it to yourself
• very easy to level up
• having a pet

The drawback to this class is that you can only wear cloth armor, but all classes have strengths and weaknesses so, no big deal.

Spending Talent Points

While this spec is not the most common spec people are pushing out there. I Promise that this spec is tried and true. I have used this spec myself and I assure you it is the best, in my opinion. I have tried many variations of warlock leveling specs and can’t find one that works better than this,

Introduction

Warlocks are one of the best powerhouse classes in the game, they have high damage output, high survivability rates, a pet to support you through all parts of the game.  A well played warlock past the level 25 or 30 will likely never run out of mana, due to a combination of life-tap and various other talents.

The Warlock class is very fun to play.  You have the ability to solo quest in situations that  usually require more than one party member. You have fear, death coil, and soul stones for a self resurrection should you get smoked while questing in the realm– All of these contribute to making the class a great choice for overall enjoyment.

Human or Gnome Warlock?

If you have to be efficient and Alliance ? Go with the Gnome.

• Human: Outside of PvP Humans have no abilites that would improve their playing a Warlock. For PvP though, the Escape ability and Stealth detection are also very nice. Especially stealth detection, given how hardcore the Rogue openers are now
• Gnome: Gnomes have increased Intelligence which translates to a larger  mana pool and more spellpower. Gnomes Escape ability is very useful in PvP and sometimes other places.

Should you pick Orc, Undead, or Blood Elf?

If you are picking Horde. I would go Orc. Undead if you are big on PvP.

• Orc: Damage by your pets is increased a bit. In PvP you have some resistance to stuns effects.
• Undead: No special Walock abilities, though their corpse consumption and underwater breathing have situational use. The ability to remove far, sleep, and charm has some PvP use and situational use otherwise.
• Blood Elves: the Blood Elves don’t have any special Warlock abilities.

Warlock Leveling Spec for Cataclysm

The world changed with Cataclysm and all previous builds were wiped out, in a flash. Warlock mechanics didn’t change very much, unlike Hunters and Paladins, but all the spells and talents got quite the new overhaul. In 4.3 going forward

Character abilities no longer come in ranks, rather they scale according to your level. This is pretty obvious at a glance to anyone who was playing prior to the new system.

At level 10 you get to pick your first talent. Pick wisely, though, for once you pick that talent you are locked into that specialization until you hit level 69 and have spent 31 talent points. After that point you can branch out into the other trees. Note that you do not have to buy whichever talent is at the end of the tree, you just have to spend the 31 points. Don’t like a particular talent choice? Then skip it, spend a point in something else. Then buy something in affilication/destruction if it suits you better.

Mastery is a trainable ability you learn at level 80. It adds a bonus to whichever tree you are specializing in at the time. For end-game content it may, or may not, be worthwhile to stack Mastery. When we have the final word then we’ll update these pages appropriately. While you’re under 80 it won’t be something you’ll be able to worry about anyway.

Affliction Leveling

You’re a master of shadow magic and have an assortment of Fears, Drains, and DoTs (Damage over Time spells.) Traditionally drain tanking has been a feature of this specialization. You and your pet work in close synergy to bring down the opposition.

• Unstable Affliction – This is a DoT which, when dispelled, damages and silences the dispeller
• Shadow Mastery – increases shadow damage by 25%
• Mastery: Potent Afflictions: (obtainable at level 80) increases your periodic damage. Stacking Mastery Rating will increase this effect.

Affliction leveling talent build for Cataclysm

Note: This build skips talents that are obviously just for PvP or groups and assumes that most of your leveling will be solo. Some remarks have been added in case you are doing a lot of groups.

1. 3/3 Corruption – Boosts Corruption damage
2. 2/2 Improved Life Tap – More mana from your Life Tap
3. 2/2 Soul Siphon – Increases the amount drained by Drain Life and Drain Souls depending on the number of Affliction spells on your target, up to 18% increase. s
4. 2/2 Siphon Life – Chance for a small heal from your Corruption damage.
5. 1/2 Doom and Gloom – Increased crit chance for Bane of Agony and Bane of Doom
6. 3/3 Eradication – Corruption damage has a chance to increase casting speed.
7. 2/2 Improved Fear – When your Fear ends the target is slowed for a few seconds.
8. 3/3 Shadowy Embrace – Shadow Bolt and Haunt apply this effect which increases your Shadow periodic damage on the target.
9. Soul Swap – Pull your Shadow DoTs off of Target A and put them onto B.
10. 2/2 Doom and Gloom
11. 2/2 Nightfall – Your Corruption and Drain Life spells have a chance to make your next Shadow Bolt instant
12. Soulburn: Seed of Corruption: Your Seed of Corruption detonation effect applies Corruption to all affected enemy targets
13. 2/3 Death’s Embrace – More damage to low health targets. Your Drain Lifeheals youi for a bit more when you are at low health.
14. 3/3 Everlasting Affliction – Increases crit chance of Affliction, Unstable Affliction, and Seed of Corruption. Your Dran Life, Drain Soul, and Haunt spells will reset the durration of Corruption to full.
15. 2/2 Pandemic – Slightly reduces the cooldowns of Banes and Curses. Your Drain Soul refreshes the duration of Unstable Affliction on low health targets.
16. Haunt – Increases Shadow damage to the target and heals you when its duration ends.
17. You’re level 69 and can spend your next point(s) in a different tree.
18. 3/3 Demonic Embrace – Increases your total Stamina
19. 2/2 Fel Synergy – You will heal your pet for a percentage of the damage that you do.
20. You’re level 79 – your next talent point is at 81, pick what you need.

Gear, Buffs, Etc.

Gear wise you should find things quite simple, the stats that warlocks need are: stamina, in massive amounts. Stamina is far more important than any other stat as it increases survivability as well as providing mana due to lifetap.

Secondly, having achieved massive amounts of stamina, +Int becomes important.

From about 60 on Spell Power gains in importance, and availability. Stack up all the Stamina and Spell Power you can. Int and Critical rating are 2nd tier, and Haste rating isn’t so hot since most of your spells are fast or instant cast.

• Stamina – get all that you can. Always.
• Intellect – 2nd in importance to Stam, but if your gear comes with both, then great.
• Spirit – Fairly useless with 4.1.0 .
• Agility provides a bit of defense, but Int and Stam are far more useful. Skip it.
• Strength is of absolutely no use to a Warlock.
• Hit rating – Essential for raiding (17% needed) and useful for leveling and PvP.

Get a wand, especially at low levels. It’s much less useful in raids or PvP, but for leveling it’s fast and easy damage with no mana cost and no ammo cost. Great for all those times when the mobs will be running away from you. Some find it less useful at higher levels, but still nice every now and then.

Enchants: While you’re leveling skip enchants unless you’re rolling in gold and/or have gear that you will keep for awhile. If you are going to anchant your gear then I’m sure you have already figured out your priorities: Stamina > Int > Spell Crit

Questing – is much more efficient than grinding for gaining XP, if you group smiliar quests together so you can do more than one at the same time. If you can, always log out in an Inn to earn the “rest XP bonus.”

What to do with your Warlock:

1. Tank and Spank: Let your pet hold the mob’s aggro while you burn it down with spells. Only useful with Voidwalker and Felguard.
2. Drain Tanking: After getting Fel Concentration you DoT up the mob, set your pet on it (any pet) and use Drain Life while it beats on you. You’ll stay healthy and the mob drops.
3. Be careful of Fear spells. Mobs running around may cause other mobs to notice you and attack. If you’re not careful it’s easy to be overwhelmed.
4. Keep an eye on your DoT timers so that you can always have your DoTs up on the things you’re killing.
